1. Which file to use?
=====================

1. Please prefer the version with text embedded to it, if you have no very important reason not to:

* For white background, choose Aaltopiraatit-musta_black.svg

* For light coloured background, choose Aaltopiraatit-musta_black.svg

* For Dark backgrounds, choose Aaltopiraatit-valkoinen_white.svg

* Did you know: the text looks better in these versions since it is outlines and there is no risk of kerning and font size becoming wrong.

2. When you need the logo image only, for example for novelty items such as pens or stamps, use the logo without text:

* When printing the logo to pens and objects, choose the black outline version with no white background. otherwise you might see one dark circle only. choose Aaltopiraatit-esineisiin_for-objects-musta_black.svg

* For white and light backgrounds, choose Aaltopiraatit-pelkkatunnus_imageonly-musta_black.svg

* For dark backgrounds, choose Aaltopiraatit-pelkkatunnus_imageonly-valkoinen_white.svg

3. For web, please use the ready file as such. Don't scale the file smaller and definately never make it larger! It is strongly adviced you use these premade files, since rescaling bitmap causes all kind of distortions which have been corrected in these files. Also, the dark text will be unreadable unless corrections are made.

* When possible, use PNG version: tiny, small, normal, large, huge

If in doubt, choose Aaltopiraatit-WEB-normal-musta_black.png or Aaltopiraatit-WEB-small-musta_black.png

* When you have dark background, use the white PNG images: tiny, small, normal, large, huge

All white logos are equally good, since white on dark works generally well.

* When needed, use Jpeg version, open the PNG version and save it as JPEG in BEST conversion settings. It's black and white, small picture, so it wont make a huge picture even with best settings. How ever it looks better that way! (again, don't change the size)

* In case the space is larger than the logo, be brave and leave some empty white surrounding. You don't need to fill the entire space with logo. Never use bitmap pictures when doing posters or printed materials, always use vector version.

4. Sometimes SVG-format pictures are not okay. When you are using professional visual software, you will need to use the post script files:

Aaltopiraatit-musta_black.ps
Aaltopiraatit-valkoinen_white.ps
Aaltopiraatit-esineisiin_for-objects.ps

2. Remember to leave SPACE around the logo
==========================================

Generally, when you are placing the works to any publication, poster, printout or website:

* Remember to leave enough empty space around the logo. Don't pack the logos so close they are touching each other to save space.

* A good thumb rule is to leave around 1 cm of empty space surrounding the logo.

* Please remember to be moderate when determining the size of the logo. You don't need to make it very large, people can see even if it is smaller. Prefer good looking size instead of large size.

* When you are using the logo in publication, Please, remember to print your publication page with logo before sending it to print company. The logo looks very different on screen and on paper. You might be surprised to see the logo doesn't look like what you expected it to be when you do a test print.

3. Where can I use the logo?
============================

Basically you can use it in all Aalto pirates activities. Please consult the association before using the logo! It is a good idea to ask the chair of Aalto pirates prior putting the logo anywhere.

However you can't use the logo in any for-profit commercial activity. You can't start a corporation with this logo as corporate identity.
